Cypress, TX Roofers

Cy-Fair sits in the hail belt and most of its roofs are still young. That makes documentation, not age, the thing that decides repair versus replacement. We photograph first and recommend second.

Tornado damage to homes in Cypress, TX, May 2024

Drive through Cypress after a spring storm and you will see it: tarps on roofs that went on a decade ago. Hail does not care that Bridgeland and Towne Lake are new. Storm Bolt Roofing is a family-owned, bilingual contractor based a short drive east in Spring, and this is what most Cypress calls are about: a documented hail-and-wind inspection on a roof that is still inside its manufacturer warranty, followed by a repair, or a wind-rated replacement built to stand up to the next one.

Cypress is unincorporated Harris County, and we cover ZIP codes 77410, 77429 and 77433 plus neighboring Tomball, Hockley and Spring. Get a range in a minute with the 60-second roof estimate, or schedule a free inspection and get the photos in hand.

A Hail-Belt Field Guide for Cypress Roofs

What you can see from the driveway, what we find on the roof, and why the two rarely match.

From the driveway: nothing

The most common Cypress hail damage is invisible from the ground. No holes, no missing shingles, no leak. Yet.

On the roof: bruises and bare mat

Impact marks that feel soft under a thumb, granules piled at the downspouts, and patches of exposed black mat that the Texas sun will now go to work on.

At the edges: creased tabs

Straight-line wind lifts and creases shingles along the rakes and ridges without tearing them off. A creased shingle has lost its seal, and the next gust knows it.

Large-lot homes: more roof, more detail

Bigger footprints, more hips and valleys, and sometimes a shop or barn with a metal roof out back. Each surface gets its own look, because a claim on a big roof lives or dies on complete photos.

Wind-rated shingles, installed to the rating

An architectural shingle's wind rating only holds when the nailing pattern, starter course and ridge product match what the manufacturer specifies. We install to the rating, not just to the color.

Young roof, real warranty

Most Cypress roofs date from the 1990s to the 2020s. Keep the manufacturer paperwork together with dated inspection photos; that pairing is worth more than either alone.

Storm & weather

Storm Season on the 290 Corridor

Cypress gets the same two storm seasons as the rest of northwest Harris County, and gets them a little harder. In spring, severe thunderstorms track across the 290 corridor with hail and straight-line wind; the May 2024 derecho showed how much wind a single line of storms can carry. From June through November the Gulf hurricane season adds tropical wind and days of rain. Through all of it, heat and humidity keep working on the shingles. For a Cypress homeowner the practical takeaway is simple: a roof that is ten or fifteen years old is not automatically fine, and it is not automatically finished either. What it is depends on what the storms have done to it, and that is a question photographs answer better than guesses.

We come in on the Grand Parkway, US 290 and Highway 249 and work throughout the Cy-Fair ISD footprint: the master-planned sections of Bridgeland, Towne Lake, Fairfield and Coles Crossing, the older streets closer to 290, and the acreage lots where the roof on the house is only one of the roofs on the property. Same family-owned crew, same drone-and-ground photo record, same plain explanation in English or Spanish, whichever the household prefers.

Insurance & documentation

Documenting Hail on a Cypress Roof That Is Still Under Warranty

On a young Cypress roof the photo record does double duty. It gives your insurance company a dated, slope-by-slope view of what the storm did, and it preserves your position under the manufacturer's warranty by showing the damage was weather, not workmanship or wear. Storm Bolt Roofing inspects the roof, records it with drone and ground photos and measurements, and hands you a written contractor estimate you can submit as-is. From there the decision is your insurer's: we are a roofing contractor, not a public insurance adjuster, so we do not file or negotiate claims and we cannot promise a result. We can make sure nothing about the roof is left to memory.

FAQ

Cypress Hail and Roofing Questions

Do you serve all of Cypress, TX?

Yes. Cypress is unincorporated Harris County, and we cover it end to end: ZIP codes 77410, 77429 and 77433, from the 290 corridor to the Grand Parkway, plus neighboring Tomball, Hockley and Spring. Our office is a short drive east, so Cypress is regular ground for us.

My Cypress roof looks fine after the last hailstorm. Should I still get it inspected?

That is exactly the roof to inspect. Hail bruising almost never shows from the ground, and it does not leak on day one; it strips granules and lets the sun start on the mat underneath. A free, documented inspection either puts your mind at rest in writing or catches the damage while a repair, and a claim, are still straightforward.

What does wind-rated actually mean for a Cypress roof?

Architectural shingles carry a manufacturer wind rating, but the rating is conditional: it depends on the nailing pattern, the starter course, the ridge product and the installation temperature the manufacturer specifies. A shingle installed outside those conditions is not the roof the label describes. We install to the rating and show you the details in the closeout photos.

What do you do on a storm-damage insurance claim?

We provide the evidence. We photograph the roof from the air and the ground, measure it, and give you a written contractor estimate you can submit. Storm Bolt Roofing is a roofing contractor and not a public insurance adjuster, so we do not file or negotiate the claim; your insurer decides it on the record you provide.

My Cypress roof is under 15 years old — is storm damage still worth inspecting?

Yes. A newer architectural roof can carry hail bruising or wind-lifted tabs with no visible leak, and that is exactly the age where a documented inspection matters most: it protects your manufacturer warranty position and gives your insurer dated photo evidence.
